Supporting the Monastery

The monastery is supported in many ways by the faithful. Volunteers offer their skills, services and time through efforts such as helping with the building works, helping with the maintenance and care-taking of the monastery and chanting and reading during the services through to organising events in aid of the monastery. If you would like to offer your assistance as a volunteer or if you would like to sponsor the building works at the monastery please contact the abbott, Father Kyriakos.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE STATE OF THE MONASTERY IN THE WAKE OF THE BUSHFIRES (updated 25.11.2013):

The fire which swept through Springwood, Winmalee and Yellow Rock on Thursday 17th Oct. 2013, caused significant damage to the monastery. The Archdiocese of Australia has issued an encyclical letter calling on the Greek Orthodox community to support the Holy Monastery of St. George by donating to the appeal. The encyclical can be accessed by clicking the link below:

Encyclical – St. George Appeal

Because of damages to the property sustained through the bushfire and the subsequent need for clean up, it is not yet deemed safe for visitors to the monastery. Currently the monastery is closed to all. We will update the faithful as soon as there are any changes to this status.

We ask for your continued prayers.
